6 Summer Projects To Start This Month

There’s something about summer that just motivates you to work on things around the house. One day you look outside and decide that it is finally time to reseed the lawn, or get started on that garden you’ve been meaning to start for the last decade. Or maybe you have the itch to work but don’t really know where to start. Here are a few summer projects that you can start this month!

Refurnish Your Home on a Budget

Redecorating your home can feel like a massive undertaking, especially when you include furniture into that overhaul. Oftentimes, furniture is the single most expensive category of your home’s possessions, although few of us think about protecting it from thieves or accident. When it’s time to redo a room, furniture is the biggest expense that you can expect.

However, if you can take some smart measures, you’ll find yourself able to cut way back on the expenses of refurnishing your home. Read on to learn more!

The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Spring Cleaning

Let’s face it. Who wants to spend their time off spring cleaning? Wouldn’t it be better to spend that time binge watching another awesome series on Netflix? Yes, it would. Unfortunately, self-cleaning homes are still a thing of the future. Until we start to live like The Jetsons, we’ll still have to do the cleaning ourselves. Yes, it does indeed suck. Thankfully, there are ways to clean your home without missing too many hours of your free time.

You Don’t Need a New Year for New Goals

January has come and gone. Many new year goals have petered out by February, which is often expected by most people as they set their new years goal at the end of December. Just because January has ended, doesn’t mean that you can’t continue working on yourself and continuing to improve yourself and your life.

Our Engagement Story

We're starting the New Year out with a bang...and a ROCK!!

A quick little backstory about the day...I had a photo shoot booked in the city (in Chicago), with a photographer that reached out to me through the blog.  He was in town for the weekend, and asked if I was up to collaborate on a shoot.  I get a lot of random inquiries from people reaching out to me on IG or the blog…but this photographer had some really nice shots, and the timing worked out, so I decided to do a collab with him.  I thought it would be an awesome opportunity to get some nice shots of Bart and I in the city before he moves to California.  So we set it up for January 1st, which was the only day we could actually make it out to the city, since Bart had to work the next couple days.

How to Organize Your Home's Trash Solutions

Families and homes have a tendency to build up trash. That’s simply the nature of a bunch of people living in a place together. Things build up and people move through lots of products and materials. By nature, we tend to be a pretty wasteful species. However, you can simultaneously make your home a neater and reduce the amount of waste that you and your family produce by getting organized and working together. Here are some different ways that you can organize the trash your home produces to be more efficient and less of the filthy animals you know you are!

Reliving Your Best Memories with GoPro and QuikStories

"Pictures or it never happened!"

We have been long time fans of GoPro...even from the early days.  Now, GoPro is even cooler than ever, and with the new APP QuikStories, we're enjoying our memories with just a touch of a button.

My GoPro has been with me through so much.  Shark Cage Diving, Bungee Jumping, Snowboarding, Fishing...it's been all across the states, in New Zealand, Australia, Haiti, and Iceland.  I've had it for years, and it has never failed me.  It is so awesome to have all these pictures and videos of my favorite memories, when usually I wouldn't have much proof of it before.  After all the love my GoPro has given me, it was time to upgrade to another one...but only because of the awesome new features they keep coming out with.

Fisherman's Gift Guide

My boyfriend, B, is a Fisherman...like a really passionate Fisherman.  He does tournaments, is in a fishing club, and belongs to Bassmaster.  To say he loves it, would be a total understatement.  You would think that Christmas and birthday gift ideas come easy for me then...just get some fishing gear, right?  But oh my goodness, have you ever walked into Bass Pro and looked around going, "what the heck do I get?!"  There are so many products, and sometimes it can be super stressful trying to wade through it all.

Personalized Gifts For Grandparents

Grandparents give us so much.  They help take care of our kids when we need them, they raised us into the people we are and they are who tell us the stories of where we came from.  When you think of grand parents you think of smiling faces, stern looks and priceless memories from times past.  That's why finding the right gift for them can sometimes be tricky.

Gifts Every New Mommy Wants But Doesn't Know It Yet!

Becoming a mommy for the first time is a very exciting thing, and can be very overwhelming as well.  Where do you start? What do you need?  How are you going to do this?!  Even if you're already a mommy, but having another baby, these questions come up again.  And even more questions can arise.  How am I going to do it with 2? 3 or 4?!  What can I do better with this new one that I learned with the first?

My 30th birthday Celebration in LA

Birthdays have always been a huge thing for me, and my family.  We actually love celebrating birthday months...because just celebrating one day, is obviously not enough.  Personally, I have always been really big on pillar birthdays as well.  I was SOOOO excited to turn 16!  Sweet 16 meant I got my drivers license, was a Jr in high school, and my whole life ahead of me.  18 of course, you become an adult.  21, you're no longer in your teens, and there are barely any restrictions in life (besides renting a car, for the most part), and then there is 30.

How Exercise Affects Mental Health and Mood

One of the primary reasons that people exercise is to improve their physical health, as continuous exercise helps people lose weight, improve the health of their heart, build muscle mass, and generally live a healthier lifestyle. However, the benefits of exercise don’t just stop at the physical. There are incredible mental benefits to exercise, as well. As a matter of fact, regular exercise has a profoundly positive impact on many people’s mood and mental health. Here are some of the ways that exercise impacts a person’s mental state...
