15 Romantic Things To Do in Paris For Couples

Paris offers date ideas for every budget and every season. Here are 15 date idea in Paris to get your creative juices flowing:

1. Take a Day Trip to Sample Some Bubbly

When you’re in Paris, you’re about a stone’s throw away from the Champagne region. What luck!

Taking a champagne tour from Paris is a breeze, whether you travel by train or arrange a tour that picks you up right at your hotel.

Spend a day with your love being escorted from one Champagne house to another, sipping bubbly and snacking under the sun in the beautiful French countryside.

2. Have a Picnic at the Eiffel Tower

For a casual yet still incredible date, have a picnic on the grassy grounds surrounding the Eiffel Tower.

While the official rule is no glassware, it’s loosely upheld and a reasonable amount of food and drink is allowed. Arrive a couple hours before sunset to beat the crowds.

Bring a picnic blanket, snacks from local grocery stores or bakeries, and bottle of wine to enjoy with your date.

3. Enjoy Fine Dining With Eiffel Tower Views

For a more formal date, make reservations at one of the incredible restaurants in the area that offer Eiffel Tower views as part of the experience. Consider Girafe Restaurant, which serves gourmet seafood and has terrace seating for great views.

4. Cruise Along the Seine at Sunset

Take to the waters on a sunset boat cruise on the Seine river. As the sky darkens, you’ll see the city lights come on around you. Clink your champagne glasses (included with most Seine boat cruises) and watch in romantic bliss as the Eiffel Tower puts on its nightly lights show.

5. Try Escargot Together at a Bouillon

Know what makes a fun date experience? Trying something new together. Visit a traditional Bouillon restaurant and try escargot together, as well as anything else that looks delicious on the menu!

6. Cross the River for an Afternoon Gelato

A wonderful afternoon date involves crossing the bridge over the Seine to step onto Île de la Cité, or City Island. The busy city buzz falls away as you enter this quieter area in Paris.

You’ll likely pass some eloquent street musicians on your way to Berthillon, the best place in the area for some gelato. Order to go, and walk down to sit and eat right along the Seine on a sunny day.

7. Have a Unique Experience at Maison de la Truffe

If your date is a truffle lover, bring them to Maison de la Truffe where the ingredient is infused into nearly everything. Including some of the desserts.

Note that the place is pricey, with mixed reviews for food and service. But if the thought of an all truffle restaurant sounds appealing to you then this is definitely the place to go.

8. Indulge in Steak & Frites at Le Relais de l’Entrecôte

Another ‘theme-based’ restaurant to try for date night is Le Relais de l’Entrecôte. Apart from their walnut salad starter, all they serve is steak frites!

There are locations in New York and London as well, but of course the Paris location is the one to try. With less time needed to review the menu, you’ll be able to focus more time and attention on your actual date.

*Note that at the time of writing this post they are temporarily closed but set to reopen.

9. Have a Photo Shoot Day Around the City

Picturesque Paris, the perfect setting for a romantic photo shoot all around the city. You could book an official photographer to take memorable photos of your date.

Or, you and your date could take turns playing photographer for the day. Grab your best camera equipment (a smartphone will do just fine) and dress up in your Parisian best.

Then, hit the town and take turns capturing portraits of each other all around the city.

Some photo shoot locations to consider include: Trocadero with views of the Eiffel Tower, a quintessential Parisian cafe with outdoor seating options, the charming side streets of Montmartre or the stunning viewpoint near Sacré Coeur.

10. View Sunset at Sacré Coeur

Speaking of Sacré Coeur, another delightful date idea when in Paris is to settle in on the steps to watch the sunset. You’ll be in plenty of company, as this is a popular activity among locals and tourists alike. Bring a chilled bottle of champagne along and treat this as your pre-dinner drinks portion of the evening.

11. Walk Through a Jardin des Tuileries After Breakfast

Breakfast dates are vastly underrated, and you can change that. Meet your date for a cappuccino and breakfast at Cafe Marly. Sit on the outdoor terrace for an iconic view of the Louvre as you start your day together. Then, stay in the area and walk through the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries nearby.

12. Dip Pastries in Hot Chocolate at Carette

Deliver an extra dose of sweetness on your date with a visit to Carette. Order the creamy hot chocolate, and some pastries for good measure.

There are several different locations to choose from, but the one at Place des Vosges is the one where you should bring your date. It’s in an area with a quieter feel to it, yet enough people around to still feel lively.

Afterwards you can stroll through or sit in the park across the street.

13. Have Lunch at a Crêperie

For a classic Paris date idea, have lunch at a crêperie. Crêperie Brocéliande in Montmartre comes highly rated. It offers both sweet and savory options in a cozy environment and at affordable prices.

14. Watch a Show at Moulin Rouge

Enjoy a fun date night out at the iconic Moulin Rouge. This one certainly takes some planning in advance, at least several weeks out, but is well worth it for a night out on the town.

You can choose to book a table with drinks and dinner included, or simply a ticket to the show without a meal.

Aim to arrive early to be toward the front of the line that forms, as it will give you an advantage in choosing your seats when you enter.

15. Share a Toast at Montparnasse Tower

Enjoy panoramic views over the city of Paris with drinks in hand atop Montparnasse Tower. There is an entrance fee to enter, and at the top you’ll find an observation deck.

On the roof is a small bar where you can enjoy drinks. Visit on a clear day for sunset for a truly awe-inspiring date.

There you have it! While you can certainly enjoy a solo Paris trip, these date ideas are a fun and romantic way to spend time in the city.
