1.  Accept help!

My wedding was absolutely incredible, and would not have been that way without the help of my family, friends, and even some strangers! I was 1,300 miles away throughout the entire planning process, so allowing help was not an option for me. We didn’t have a coordinator, but everyone pitched in to plan, set up, and tear everything down.

2.  Go thrifting!

You can have a pinterest-perfect wedding without buying anything brand new! My mom found almost everything used for our ceremony and reception at thrift stores, estate sales, yard sales, and craigslist – including all of those beautiful glasses and plates!

3.  Seating Charts

I did not use a seating chart (because I am lazy!) I started to make one, and lost patience after about 30 seconds, ha! However, this only worked because we had more chairs than guests!

4.  Have Fun

Weddings can be so so fun! We knew that we wanted our personalities to show, so we incorporated weird and fun things that we love. A family friend offered her stilt walking services, and we hired a caricature artist– perfect cocktail hour entertainment! We had board games at every table, because why not?! We had cake AND ice cream. Do you!

5.  Things happen

Finally, things go wrong. Our alpaca farm venue sold the alpacas before the event without telling us. It rained as guests were arriving. Our officiant got into a car accident on the way to the ceremony. (She is okay, and performed an amazing ceremony!) Our DJ tried his best to stress us out (our incredible photographers reminded us that it was our day, not his!) None of it mattered because we were just so thrilled to be getting married and to be surrounded by all of our favorite people.
