If you’re searching for a good date idea, you might want to try your hand at mini golf. Whether you’re a pro mini golfer or have never golfed a day in your life, mini golf is a fun activity that anyone  can enjoy. But why is it such a great date idea? What should you wear? And how can you spice up your date? Let’s talk about it!

Why is Mini Golf a Great Date Idea?

Whether you’re a married couple or it’s your first date, we love the idea of mini golf. And there’s so many reasons why:

Mini Golf is for Anyone

Literally anyone can play mini golf. Regardless of whether you’ve played before or not, regardless of your age, regardless of your physical ability level – anyone can play.

It’s simple enough that everyone can understand the game and calm enough that all abilities can play it.

Plus, if you’re married with children, your children can play too – so it’s a great family date as well.

It’s Affordable

If you’re looking for a date that isn’t going to cost you hundreds of dollars, mini golf is a good place to start. It’s fun, upbeat, and exciting, but still very affordable and conservative at the same time.

It’s Safe and Comfortable

If you’re going on a date with someone you’ve never met before, you may be a little uncomfortable. Your safety should be of first priority. Mini golf can be a safe place to meet your date where there are lots of other people around, yet you still have some privacy as well.

You Gives You an Excuse to Get Close

If you and your date are having some flirty fun, mini golf can give you the opportunity to “teach” your date some play moves. Get up close to your date, put your arms around them, and teach them how to swing the putter.

Is Mini Golf A Good First Date?

Yes! If this is your first date, mini golf can help to reduce the awkwardness of it. In times of awkward silences, mini golf can give you and your date something else to focus on.

So even if your date and you aren’t connecting as well as you like, you can at least both enjoy the game together.

Mini golf also gives you a chance to be flirty with your competitiveness…or making a fun bet…loser buys drinks after?

And if you’re really brave, you might cozy on up and show her better form, by holding her hands on the club from behind…classic move!

What Should You Wear on a Mini Golf Date?

One of the best things about mini golf is that you can just be yourself. You don’t have to get all dressed up and dazzled for your date. And really, you can wear pretty much anything you want.

Of course, we don’t recommend wearing a short dress and high heels – you’ll probably be pretty uncomfortable. And men, we don’t recommend a suit and tie, but other than that, the skies are the limit.

Men can wear a nice dress shirt and some jeans or a plain tee and a pair of shorts. Really, anything goes.

Women? Jeans and tee, a simple summery dress, or shorts and a tank top. It really doesn’t matter what you wear to mini golf. Just keep it simple and casual, and you can’t go wrong.

Mini Golf Options

There’s lots of different options when it comes to mini golf. Pretty much any city has a mini golf course in it, or at least somewhere nearby. But did you know that there’s actually lots of different types of mini golf? Here are some that we’ve found:

Outdoor Mini Golf

When you hear “mini golf”, this is probably what you think of. A standard, outdoor course with 9-18 simple, fun holes.

Indoor Mini Golf

If you’re in an area where the weather gets too chilly in winter, you might want to try an indoor mini golf course. These are essentially the same as outdoor courses, except indoors where it’s nice and warm.

Glow-in-the-Dark Mini Golf

If you’re looking for something unique to do, try glow-golf! Many indoor courses offer glow-in-the-dark courses – how cool!

Crazy Golf

Crazy golf is a form of mini golf except there’s mounds, hills, and slopes that you need to pass the ball through to make it to the hole. It takes a little more coordination, but can also provide a little more laughter and competition!

Goofy Golf

Goofy golf is like regular mini golf too, except there’s lots of silly obstacles to pass through. Windmills, monkeys, giant aliens – the skies are the limit when it comes to goofy golf.

Spicing Up Your Mini Golf Date

How much you spice up your mini golf date really depends on how long you’ve been dating and how close you feel to your date.

May we suggest some friendly wagers? If this is your first date, we don’t suggest anything outrageous.

Perhaps the loser at the end of the game has to do a pre-decided dare? Or whenever you lose a hole, you take a drink (if alcohol is available on the course).

If you’re a couple of dates in and feeling fun and comfortable with your date, perhaps you could up the wager to a kiss? Or something a little more flirty?

And if you’re married or been in the relationship for a while, then the winner gets to choose the moves in bed tonight?

You can wager anything you want – just make sure it suits the comfort level of both you and your date.

Similar Activities

Mini golf is a great place, but perhaps you want to do another date soon? If you really enjoyed your mini-golf date together, there’s lots of similar activities that you can do on your next date:

Driving Range

The driving range is where people practice their golf swings. If neither of you know what you’re doing, this can be a great laugh!

If one of you is seasoned in the golf department, it’s a great excuse to get up close to your date and show them how to swing.

Golf

If you’ve practiced your swing at the range, why not try a full round of golf? It might take some time to get the hang of it, but who knows, maybe you’ll find a new hobby you can enjoy together in the future?

Disc Golf

Also referred to as frisbee golf, this sport involves throwing a disc at a target with rules similar to that of golf.

Footgolf

Footgolf is a mixture of golf and soccer. It involves kicking the ball into a hole.

Whatever date you choose, you can’t go wrong with a round of golf!
