Looking for some fun ideas for Park Dates?

Helicopter flights and hot air balloon rides – these may be the perfect bachelor style dates but they aren’t reality. In reality, a lot of us can’t afford to take lavish dates all the time.

But here’s the good news – you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a bachelor style date! All you need is a park and some creative date ideas

Lucky for you, we’ve got the creative ideas right here. So without further ado, here are some fun, romantic, and realistically affordable dates that you can have in any park near you:

Park Dates To Try

Picnic In The Park- But Mix It Up!

Okay, so there’s nothing surprising about us telling you to have a picnic in the park. It’s a classic. But it’s classic for a reason.

Park picnic dates are not only inexpensive, but they’re fun and romantic too. So if you’re looking to impress without spending a fortune, a picnic date is the perfect option.

Plus, there are so many different options for picnics.

A simple picnic with a blanket and some snacks is really all you need to impress.

But if you want to go the extra mile, you could do themed picnics too. Bring some board games along and have a board game picnic.

Bring some tea and have a high tea picnic. Put on your best dress and have a prom picnic. The options really are endless.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

Have you ever done a photo scavenger hunt on a date? It’s basically when you make a list of things to find and take pics of different things… like a certain type of flower or a specific landmark.

You can set a time limit or make it a competition to see who can find everything first. It’s a really fun and creative way to explore the park together and you’ll end up with some cool, personal photos.

Night Picnic in the Park

No one said your picnic has to be during the day! If you really want to romance your date, opt for a nighttime date with a picnic in the park.

Bring some pillows, blankets, and snacks, and set up your picnic under the stars. If you want, bring some binoculars or a telescope and spend the night stargazing.

Throw on some light music and dance the night away in the moonlight.

Couples Conversation Games

One of our most recommended dates is to play a couples conversation game. It’s a great way to get conversations going, and you can even get to know each other better, no matter how long you’ve been together.

We have lots you can try in our relationship question games post…

But here are some of our favorites:

Hunt for Pokemon

Pokemon may seem like it’s just for kids – but humor us for a minute. If you’re looking to let loose a little bit, download the free Pokemon app on your phone.

You’d be surprised just how much fun it can be to run around catching Pokemon at your local park.

Do it together as a team, or battle it out to see who can find the most Pokemon in half an hour time.

Go For A Bike Ride

Riding bikes together in the park can be such a fun outdoor date idea. Dust off your old bike, or rent one for the day.

Enjoy the sights and beautiful weather in the park as you ride, and stop to rest or explore along the way. Don’t forget to bring some water and snacks to keep your energy up!

A bike ride is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air, and it’s sure to be a memorable and enjoyable experience for both of you.

Play On The Playground

Make this date all about being kids again, and head to the playground. Swing high on the swings, see who can do the best at the monkey bars, or climbing the ropes.

Be sure to be respectful of the kids around, and maybe try this when it’s not peak kid time.

People Watch

People watching can be a great way to pass time, and if you’re into psychology, it can be a great way to study people too.

What are people doing in the park? What are they wearing? How are people interacting with each other?

There’s so many different things that you can study while watching people. It’s like watching your own nature documentary in the park, except instead of animals, it’s people.

Of course, this date can get creepy real quick if you’re being weird. It’s okay to watch people, but don’t stare (and please, please, please don’t videotape!)

If you want to make it a little more interesting, you could also do a people watching scavenger hunt.

Who will be the first one to find someone picking their nose? Who will be the first to see someone trip? Can you spot a couple going for a walk with their dog?

Generate a list beforehand and see who can find the most people.

Stargazing

This date would be so romantic if you can go on a night that has a meteor shower, or eclipse or something like that…but it can be an awesome date any day the sky is clear.

Find a spot away from the city lights where you have a clear view of the sky, and lay out a blanket for the two of you to lay down on to watch the stars.

You can try to find constellations and learn about the stars and planets just by downloading a constellation app.

This can be such an intimate and unique experience to have together.

Make It A Doggie Date

If you don’t live together, and you both have a dog, then make it a doggie date!

Take your furry friend with you and meet up at the dog park.

Your dogs can play together, you can chat, and have fun playing with your pups.

Trust Games

How much do you trust your date? If this is your first date, you might want to skip past this one. But if you and your partner have been together for a while now, it might be time to see how much you trust each other.

Start with trust falling.

Do you trust your partner to catch you if you fall? Stand in front of your partner with your back to them. Close your eyes and let yourself fall back. It’s your partner’s job to catch you. Do you trust them to do that?

We do, however, realize that falling is not for the faint of heart.

So here’s another trust game. Blindfold yourself and let your partner walk you around the park as your guide.

It’s your partner’s job to tell you where you are and to help you avoid any hazards along the route. Do you trust them enough to do that?

Trust games are not only a great way to test your trust, but also to build it. Use these games to build trust and create a closer bond with your partner in the park.

Make It A Truck Bed Date

Want to try something new? Try a date night in your truck bed!

There are so many cute things you can do in the bed of your truck, and heading to the park can give you a great place to do them.

Our favorite truck dates are when you bring all the pillows and blankets and enjoy a date in the back under the stars.

Have A Date In Your Car

And if you don’t own a truck, you can always do a car date.

The park gives you a different place to go instead of sitting at home, and your car can help you plan a fun date.

Head out to the park in the rain and sit in your car watching the raindrops fall.

Or use your car as the dj, and play some of your favorite tunes while you dance in the park.

Go Fishing

Is there a pond or a lake at your park? Then bring your fishing pole!

Pack a lunch, sit on the shore, and try to catch dinner.

Fishing is a fun and relaxing date you can try together, especially if you haven’t been together before.

Read a Book

There’s few better places to sit down and read a book than under a tree in the park.

Nature and nurture – that’s a great combination. And who better to do that with than your date?

Grab a good book and take turns reading together. Or, if you’re comfortable with a more silent date, you can each grab your own book and read side by side together in the park. Simple and romantic.

Try Birdwatching

Have you ever tried birdwatching? It can be a fun thing to do walking through the park that has a lot of animals. Find a unique bird and try to figure out what kind it is by trying a quick google search.

Or go old school and get a bird book!

Fly a Kite

Flying kites is so underrated. We loved doing it as kids, but as adults it’s like a forgotten sport.

Bring the joy of your childhood back to life again – fly some kites together.

Not only is flying a kite great exercise, but it can bring you a sense of relief and tension from the stresses of everyday life.

Kite flying allows you to shift your focus, and gives you the opportunity to reconnect with all that nature has to offer. It’s a great way to spend your day, and if you love it, it can become a great hobby too.

Get Active

Flying a kite might not be for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do something active.

There are so many active options in your local park.

Go for a walk, go for a run, go rollerblading, or even practice yoga in the park!

If you had a group you could get together, you could also play a game of baseball or some other type of team sport for couples

See what classes they offer at the park too! We tried a boxing class that was loads of fun!

Ice Cream Stroll

Alright, I’m not sure I will ever NOT put an ice cream date on a list, cause they’re the best!

Find an old school ice cream truck, or a small ice cream parlor nearby where you can grab some ice cream and head to the park with your love.

Walk hand in hand, chatting away as you walk through the park.

BBQ Fiesta

Why do we always wait until a holiday weekend to have a BBQ? Plan a fun BBQ together at the park, and bring some friends!

Make this a non holiday party for a fun group date together.

Park Events

Did you know lots of parks actually host events? Especially in the summer.

Try to find an outdoor movie night the city is hosting, or a “bark in the park” where you can bring your dog.

Check your local website and see what activities they may have coming up.
