Ready for some fun Dog Friendly Date Ideas?

If you’ve ever had a dog, you know that the saying, “dog is a man’s best friend” is most definitely true. And this is why we don’t always want to leave our dog behind when we go on a date.

Unfortunately, as far as we’ve come with allowing our dogs into some places, we still can’t take them everywhere with us.

Dog Friendly Date Ideas

So here are some dog friendly dates that you can take them on:

Dog Park

Okay, this one seems a little obvious, but if you’ve never actually been to a dog park, you might not know just how amazing it can actually be.

The dog park is like Heaven for dog lovers. Doggies, doggies everywhere. You can see lots of different breeds too; from these golden doodle breeds, to huskies and yorkies.

If you’re a dog person, you will be in heaven and so will your dog. Let your dog burn off their energy and make new doggie friends while you and your date sit back and meet some new furry friends too.

The Cafe

Yes – we know, most cafes don’t allow doggies in. But there are some that do! Depending on where you live, there’s a good chance that there’s a cafe that will say yes to your furry friends somewhere near you.

You and your date can go share a coffee and some treats with your best friend by your side.

If you’re lucky, you might actually be able to find a dog cafe in your area too. These cafes are designed specifically for dogs.

You can enjoy a light snack while your dog plays with other dogs in the cafe. Plus, there’s lots of dog treats in this type of cafe too!

Picnic

If you can’t find a dog friendly cafe near you, you could just enjoy your own picnic in the park.

Bring a long leash so you can tie your pup up to a tree, pack a picnic bag with extra treats for everyone, and enjoy a quiet picnic under the cloud.

If you wanted, you could also bring a ball, a frisbee, or other dog friendly toys to enjoy some fun games and exercise in the park too.

Hike

Hiking is not only great for the soul, it’s also great for the body and the heart. Regular hiking can greatly improve your cardiovascular health, reducing your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Being in the great outdoors is also great for your mental health and clarity, and can help to calm the body and lower anxiety.

Add in a dog and a date, and that sounds like a perfect day!

Ice Cream

Ice Cream always makes for a great date idea! Whether it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall, day or night – there’s no bad time for ice cream. And we’re sure your dog will agree.

Head to your local ice cream shop to grab your favorite flavor and ask for a doggy cone so your little friend can enjoy it too!

Dog Yoga

By now, most of us have heard of goat yoga – and there’s doggie yoga too! Yes – you can take your dog to yoga class. To us, this just makes sense.

Yoga is all about mental health and calmness, and who brings you more happiness and helps to calm your soul more than your dog? – that’s what they do best! So combining the two really just makes sense.

Go to the Beach

If it’s a hot summer day, there’s no better place to be than the beach – and we’re sure your dog will agree.

Dogs love to swim, play, and roll in the sand!

Don’t be afraid to bring along a frisbee and enjoy some catch while you’re enjoying your date at the beach.

Camping

You might not be able to take your dog to an AirBnB, but there’s certainly no rules against taking him camping!

Anything you can do while camping together, you can do with your dog.

Hiking, biking, swimming, campfires and s’mores – all of these make for a great date, but also a great bonding experience with man’s best friend.

Drive-In Movies

Okay, so we’re almost positive you aren’t going to be able to sneak your dog into a movie at the theaters, but you can most definitely sneak him in at a drive-in date!

If you’re looking to take your date out for a movie but don’t have a babysitter for your furry friend, don’t worry, you don’t need to leave him at home!

You can bring him along in your car to watch a drive-in movie altogether. Just be careful – your popcorn is always within a tongues reach of your dog!

Dog Festival

If it’s the right season, there’s a good chance that you’ll have some type of dog festival coming your way.

This one you may have to plan a bit ahead just so that you know the dates – but if you’re okay doing that, this can make a super fun date for everyone!

Dog festivals have everything – music, treats, swimming – anything you can think of to make it fun and special for you and your bestie.

Your dog will get to play, and you can watch some of the competitions and dog shows.

Volunteer

Volunteering together is a great way to create a special bond between you and your date. It’s one thing to treat yourselves, but when you do something special for other people, your heart becomes fuller.

And one way to donate your time is by bringing your dog to a long term care home for seniors.

Most of the people in these homes have lost their pets and are no longer able to own them – so seeing new dogs can bring light into their day.

Just be sure that your dog is fully immunized and that you are able to bring them into the home of choice.

Of course, if you want to spend some more time with your dog, you can also just do a date night at home. Netflix and chill, a BBQ in the backyard – we assure you, as long as you’re spending time with your dog, your dog will not be picky in what you do.
