Want some fun Library Date Ideas?

Planning a date can be stressful. And when you’re a book nerd who knows nothing about dating, it can be even more anxiety ridden.

But don’t stress too much because you’re not alone. Some of our favorite people are book nerds! Reese Witherspoon, Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Daniel Radcliffe – yep! They are all bookworms!

And as we all know, their dating lives aren’t too shabby. So yours doesn’t have to be either.

image reads "library dates" and shows a couple sitting at a library table reading books.

And here’s some even better news. It’s okay to book your date around your interests! If you like books, it’s okay to have your date in a library.

Your date is a book nerd too? Even better! There’s lots of ways to be fun and creative with books…and it’s a perfect date for introverts too.

So without further ado, here are a few of our favorite library based dates.

Library Dates

Study Date

If you’re hesitant about asking your crush on a date and you’re both in the same class together, you can definitely take advantage of the “study date”.

A study date is a great way to ask someone out without actually asking them out.

“Maybe we could study together sometime?” is the shy man’s way of asking someone on a date.

Plus, it’s a double win because not only do you get to go on a date with your crush but you get to improve your grades while you’re at it!

Library Scavenger Hunt

If you go through a lot of books, a scavenger hunt may be the perfect date idea.

Make yourselves a list and then head out to find some books.

Maybe you could each find a history book, a psychology book, a fiction book – the category is really your choice.

Take your books home to read them.

Then, when finished, swap books. When you’re both done reading all of the books you have picked out,  you’ll have tons of things to talk about!

Go to a Movie

Wait a minute – aren’t we talking about library dates here? We sure are!

But there are lots of library books out there that have also been turned into movies!

So find a book that you have both read that has been turned into a movie, and then watch that movie together!

If there is a new book-based movie coming out, read the book together and then head to the theaters for your date when you’re finished reading.

Go Back To Your Childhood

We all had our favorite books when we were children.

And books are so prevalent and important in our lives that most of us probably remember what they were.

Well, now’s your chance to head to the library and share those memories with your partner.

Find all of your favorite childhood books and then read them together.

This will also give you the opportunity to get to know each other better.

Why was it your favorite book? What memories do you have while reading it? What emotions does reading the book emerge?

There are so many conversation topics that can arise from  your favorite childhood books.

Books and Wine

If you and your partner have been together for a long time, you should be comfortable in each other’s silence by now.

In fact, being comfortable with silence can show exactly how strong your relationship is with your partner.

So embrace the power of silence. Grab some books from the library, bring them home, pop out the wine, and just read together!

Sometimes the most powerful moments are those spent in complete silence.

Of course, if this is your first date, we don’t recommend silence. In this case, grab a book from the library, pop out the wine, and take turns reading to each other.

Sexy Librarian

If you and your partner have been together for a while now and are looking for a sexy date idea – go with the sexy librarian.

Head to the library and find some books that might help you discover some new moves in the bedroom. (May we suggest some kama sutra?).

Then, head home and dress up in your sexiest librarian garb and engage in some high school fantasy role play!

Cooking Date

The library is full of amazing cookbooks and new recipes.

Decide together what type of cooking you’d like to try.

Maybe you’d like to try your hand at some new Italian recipes? Perhaps you’d prefer Greek? Or maybe you’d like to try your hand at vegetarianism? Or baking even?

Choose your food love language, grab a cookbook to match, and then head home and cook your dinner together.

Choose a Book

Normally if you’d go to the library, you’d pick out a book for yourself. In most cases, this would be a book within the same genre that you’d normally read.

Maybe you love science fiction. Maybe psychology is your jive.

But now you have a date to help you mix things up!

Get out of your comfort zone and have your date pick out a book for you.

Ask them to pick something that peaks their interest but that you might not normally read.

Then, take it home and read it. You might learn something new and who knows – you might find a new interest too!

Think you’re really the ultimate book lover? Find a pair of book tattoo ideas to get together.

Find a New Hobby

The library is a great place to find a new hobby – and a great place to plan future dates engaged in that hobby.

Find a book on a hobby that neither of you currently do, but that both of you might like to try.

Then, take the book home and try it out together!

What will you try your hand at? Acting? Blogging? Beer-brewing? Magic? Photography? Cosplay? Crafting?

The list of potential hobbies goes on and on! Use the library to find your passion and then do it together!

Foreign Films

In addition to books, most libraries also have a DVD section in them. So head on over to the DVD section and hunt for some foreign films. Who knows, watching foreign films might even become a hobby of its own?

As you can see, there’s tons of dates that you can do at the library. So to all you book worms and nerds out there – don’t fret – you too can have amazing dates based on what you love doing most (reading!).
