Today, we’ll talk about how to make the most of your couples spa day that makes the best relaxing date. From getting the most out of your massage to spending the entire day with your partner, here are some things couples should know when planning a date at the spa!

Benefits of a Couples Spa Date

There are so many benefits that come along with going to the spa with your partner. Not only is it a great way to connect with one another, but the spa provides a lot of health benefits too.

Here are some of the main benefits of going to the spa together:

Quality Time With Your Partner

If you’re going to have a successful relationship, quality time is essential. This means time alone with each other – phone’s down – just enjoying each other’s company.

The spa is the perfect place for this. It allows you to just be with your partner without any distractions, simply strengthening your bond and connection with one another.

Mood Boost

There’s so many ways that the spa can boost your mood. Firstly, it’s time away and distraction from the hustle and bustle of the real world. That alone is a great mood booster.

But in addition, spa treatments like massages and saunas can actually enhance chemical processes in the brain, leading to an instant mood boost. And any relationship can benefit from that.

Health Benefits

“If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of others”. Nothing is more true. If you don’t feel healthy and happy in your own body, your relationship will feel the stress.

But massage and spa treatments can help to improve your health and vitality in so many ways.

Reducing stress, releasing feel good hormones, alleviating pain, improving circulation – these are just a few of the many health benefits that come along with a trip to the spa.

Or you can always try an At Home DIY Spa Day.

Planning Your Couples Spa Day

When it comes to planning a spa date with your partner, we say go all out! Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your date:

Make a Full Day Out Of It

You don’t have to limit your special day to the spa. We say make a full day out of it! Start your day off with a nice breakfast in bed (or out), enjoy the spa, explore the town, enjoy a romantic dinner, and go for some dessert to end your night off right!

Plan Your Day Around Your Date

Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy all that the spa has to offer. Start with a breakfast date or lunch date well before your massage so that you aren’t laying on a full belly.

And whatever you choose to do after your date, make it nice and relaxing. You don’t want to be hiking the mountains after a relaxing massage. If you have anything adventurous for your date planned, do it before your spa treatments.

Drink Lots of Water

It might be tempting to bring some bubbly to your massage treatment (and that’s okay), but try to keep it light. Water is a much better choice for a day at the spa.

Hydrated and soft muscles are easier to massage and manipulate than ones that are not hydrated.

Drinking water can also help to drain any substances that were released into the body during massage, so it’s important for your wellness as well.

Leave Extra Time To Enjoy Amenities

You might have a couples massage booked, but you’ll want to leave yourself extra time at the end of your massage to enjoy the other amenities offered by your spa.

Hot tubs, steams and sauna rooms, cold plunges, Turkish baths – these are all optional extras that you may be able to enjoy at the end of your massage.

Unique Couples Spa Concepts To Try

Traditionally, you would go to the spa, get a massage, maybe enjoy the sauna and hot tub, and head home.

But today, there’s so many different types of spas out there. You can always go to a traditional one, but if you want to mix things up a bit, you could also try one of these unique spa concepts if they’re available near you:

Beer Spa

Love beer? Well here’s another reason to love it – beer contains a variety of ingredients like hop and barley that are apparently really great for releasing toxins and nourishing the body.

Many spas today are taking advantage of this idea, incorporating all-you-can-drink beer into their spa packages. Some beer spas even offer beer treatments like beer baths and “ale-ment” scrubs!

Salt Therapy Spa

Salt Therapy, also called Halo-therapy, is becoming a very common and popular health practice around the world.

The process is simple – you relax in a huge salt cave and breathe the salt into your lungs. As you do, it helps to relieve symptoms of asthma and other breathing issues, improves allergies, and hosts many other health benefits.

Mud Spa

Mud baths date way back to the days of Cleopatra and are still popular (yet unique) today.

Mud has been said to have many health benefits, specifically in relieving skin conditions and easing joint and muscle pain.

It can also help to moisturize and plump the skin, leaving you feeling amazing after your experience.

Snake Spa

Okay, this one isn’t for the faint of heart – but if you’re looking for a way to face your fears together, you might try something like a snake spa!

We can’t vouch for this ourselves, but apparently snakes offer a very relaxing kneading massage experience. And many people find it very stress-relieving.

Think you’re one of those people? These types of spas are rare, but if you can find one, we say go for the once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Of course, these are just a few of the many examples of unique spa concepts out there. Cryotherapy, Honey therapy, fish pedicures – the list goes on and on.

What to Expect from your Couples Spa Date:

To get the most out of your Spa Date, go in with no expectations. There’s no real “etiquette” that you need to follow except, as in all circumstances, be polite and respectful.

If you want to have the same treatments done, do the same treatments. If you feel you need differing treatments, that’s okay too.

If you get a couples massage and want to talk to your partner all the way through, that’s okay. If you just want to enjoy silence, that’s okay too.
